Paying rent with checks is annoying. What if there was a secure way to pay your landlord from your phone? Here’s how you can get set up to pay rent with the Tellus superapp.

Sign Up with an Invite Code

To sign up on the app as a renter, you need an invite code from your landlord. Once your landlord sends the code, you should receive it via email or text message.

Follow the link to get started; this link is uniquely attached to your lease and contains all your rental information.

Set Up Your Bank Account

Before you can pay rent, you need to set up a payment method. Renters can either set up their bank account (with free bank transfers) or use a credit card (3.4% fee per transaction).

Renters can set up a bank account in one of two ways. Log in with online banking credentials to get set up right away. Alternatively, you could enter your account and routing numbers; this option takes two business days.

For a detailed explanation of how to set up a bank account on Tellus, check out this article.

Make Your First Rent Payment

From the Dashboard, tap the ‘Pay Rent’ button. To pay rent manually (no auto-withdraw), tap ‘One Time Payment.’ Selecting ‘Payment Options’ will allow you to choose your preferred payment method.

Renters can also use AutoPay to always pay rent on time.

AutoPay

Setting up AutoPay makes forgetting to pay rent a thing of the past. Automatic withdrawals means renters are never late.

To set up AutoPay, tap the ‘Pay Rent’ button from the Dashboard. Under AutoPay, tap ‘Set Up’ and choose the amount, withdrawal date, and payment method.

For Android users, tap the ‘Pay Rent’ button from the Dashboard. Under Set Up AutoPay, tap ‘Add AutoPay’ and choose the amount, withdrawal date, and payment method.

Since bank transfers can take up to 4 business days, we recommend setting AutoPay to withdraw 4 business days before the due date.

Depending on when you set up AutoPay, there may not be enough time for the bank withdrawal to complete. In this case, a warning will appear.

How to Edit AutoPay

To edit your AutoPay preferences or to remove AutoPay, tap the ‘Pay Rent’ button from the Dashboard. Under AutoPay, the banner will tell you AutoPay is on. Tap into the banner to edit your preferences.

To delete AutoPay, tap the red ‘Delete’ button in the top right hand corner.

Final Word

Paying rent with Tellus is fast, convenient, and secure. Ditch the checkbook and choose a payment method built for the way you live.
